My grandfather, Roy Hale, started Hearthstone out of a Chevy pickup in 2003. The pickup is gone, but everything else is still the same: family runs it, family answers the phone, and we work on furnaces the way Roy did — like the people who own them are sitting in the room.

Our story

We grew because we said no a lot.

Roy turned down work outside Boulder County because he wanted to be home for dinner. Marcus turned down a franchise offer in 2015 for the same reason. Elena turned down a private-equity acquisition in 2023. Three generations of saying no to whatever would have made us bigger and slower.

What we said yes to: certifications (every tech is NATE-certified), training (we cover the cost), straight pricing (no commission, ever), and a maintenance program that genuinely keeps emergencies from happening. Hearthstone exists because our neighbors keep calling — and because every time they call, the same family answers.

How we work

Flat-rate, written quotes.

No hourly meter running, no scope creep, no surprises on the invoice. You know the number before the work starts.

Diagnose first, sell never.

Our techs are paid hourly, not on commission. The same fix-versus-replace recommendation you'd get from a family member who happened to be an HVAC tech.

Right-sized, not over-sold.

We refuse to install a 4-ton AC in a home that needs 2.5. Oversized equipment short-cycles, costs more, and lasts less. We size to the home, not to the quote.

Real local. Really small.
